The team at BUILT Systems was presented with a request from a customer that required them to take some existing designs and create a hybrid product to fit exactly what the customer needed.

The Problem

The need for a modular, mobile cart that could provide secure storage for test equipment and a clean work surface for testing.

The Criteria

The cart had to be mobile, clean, lightweight, and be able to be adapted to fit multiple applications. It needed locking drawers for storing quality test equipment and electronics, and it needed to be mobile with swivel, locking casters that provide easy maneuverability. A Stainless-Steel particulate-free work surface was needed for their laptop and testing equipment to provide a clean area for testing.

Brainstorming and Design

The design team at BUILT quickly went to work to develop this mobile cart. Several in-person meetings and a handful of emails provided the team with the necessary details. Once the initial criteria and ideas were set, the engineering team went into designing this hybrid cart. Taking an existing design for the cart frames and modifying the ways they attached to each other while designing in a drawer system that interconnects with the frame resulted in a robust design that is truly a workhorse – a mobile adaptable mini workstation that is well suited for most quality assurance testing departments and labs. This hybrid product line is something that we at BUILT are proud to display.
